City Ruins area has two themes to it:
The two tracks are very similar, with the first one maybe using lighter tones in both vocals and instruments as the name suggests.
Memories of Dust plays in the desert area. It uses arpeggios being plucked on a harp-like instrument together with a "rusty" gitar to emulate the desert winds.
Amusement Park sounds abandoned and haunted, using elements you'd find in such a park, mainly something akin to a music box.
Alien Manifestation is a very fitting title for this game's dungeon/stronghold theme. The vocals sung in the game's fictional language gives the track an otherwordly feel, while the aggressive percussion gives a sense of struggle. The track also feels vaguely mechanical, accentuated by its pulasting electronic beat and the distorted metallic sounding instrument in the background that I can't figure out what is.
War & War uses heavy drums, violins and darker string instruments to set a grave, resolute and intense vibe. The way the track starts abruptly is also very fitting for the sudden change in circumstances when the track starts playing.
Dark Colossus (Kaiju) is another track that starts just as abruptly. Its long choir-like voices, hectic violin playing and heavy "double" drum beat really cements the gravity of the enemy. In the middle it goes over to only using a church-organ with the choir-like voices chiming in from time to time, before we get a long organ-solo. After it the solo it continues back into just hectic violin-playing, which is then relieved by just the heavy drum beat again until the choir-like voices come in again. Ultimately the gospel-like vocals reach a climax together with the beat and we get a short pause before the track starts looping again from the start. This back and forth between each of the pieces making up the track, giving them somewhat they're own solo and then just starting from the beginning again brilliantly evokes a battle against a never-ending battle against a relentless foe. Not sure what came over me here... 😅
End of the Unknown has a similar drum beat, but seems to draw more inspiration from electronic music. The vocals in the track gives it a somewhat tribal or otherwordly feel and makes me imagine some kind of summoning ritual, all the while still retaining a futuristic and mechanical vibe due to the electronic beats and synths.
This soundtrack has so many layers, beyond my comprehension, so I will leave it at this.
