Pallet Town sounds both nostalgic and hopeful, signifying the simple beginnings in a small town.
The games a couple of eerie and mysterious soundtracks:
Out of these the theme for Lavender Town is clearly the most eerie and iconic one. The use of short, high-pitched, dissonant notes gives of a mysterious and haunted vibe, befitting the literal "ghost town".
Sylph Company gives of an especially shady and scheming vibe compared to the others.
The battle themes are legendary:
All use the same kind of repeating, back-and-forth, fast-paced notes pattern to spell a sense of urgency for the situation. They seem to essentially put more notes/tunes in between the same motif and pitching up the sounds to describe the increasing gravity and importance of the battles.
The name of the towns and cities are all associated with colors:
Codename St. Anne manages to give off a warm and cozy vibe, which is impressive considering the Game Boy only had 4 sound channels. If it's played on a piano sounds much like a classical piece, which is showcased in this video: Is it Mozart or Pokémon by Ryan Leach on Youtube. I had completely forgotten that this track existed until I watched the video. Honestly seems like a fun quiz game to play.
The Cycling theme is also featured in the same video, which has a happy and carefree vibe.

I know what you're going to say: "Why isn't Last Battle (VS Rival) in first place?". Don't get me wrong, it's a very good theme, but just overplayed in my opinion.
