RPG

Pokémon Emerald Version was released 2 years later in 2004 bringing in the Battle Frontier area which has its own set of tracks.

Out of these I really like Frontier Brain Battle, which truly slaps. The horn and drum-like sounds really brings the battle energy through for me.

The Regi trio puzzle is the coolest puzzle the Pokémon games have done to date in my opinion. I still remember listening over and over again to the mysterious Sealed Chamber track, while trying to figure out the coded language on the walls, only later giving up, searching the web and discover it's written in Braille and not some sort of coded language.

A reccuring instrument in the battle theme is a trumpet and it goes especially hard in the Rival Battle theme It's Pokémon so I won't list all the battle themes 😅, but here are some of the most notable ones:

Surf is just beautiful and soothing fanfare, same with Sootopolis City

Petalburg Woods sounds somewhat sinister and mysterious as something is lurking in the shadows of the trees.

Staff Credits and The End sound very nostalgic conveying that a long journey has ended.

Favorites

  1. Frontier Brain Battle
  2. Champion Battle
  3. Rival Battle
  4. Maxie/Archie Battle
  5. Staff Credits

And yes, I'm biased towards battle themes, but pokémon really has a lot of them since it's a core part of the gameplay😅.
