Some clearly western-inspired tracks, but with a lot of experimental influences. A great soundtrack by Tatsuya Kato
I find the opening by Kvi Baba quite catchy: Tombi.
MILLIONS KNIVES sounds like some serious movie trailer music, especially bringing me associations to the theme from Interstellar. It's probably just the piano thought đ .
Immigrant Space Explorer has an excellent time-ticking melody to it. The orchestral strings together with the small sprinkles of something akin to a pan flute to signify a building tension makes the track feel adventurous and gives a sense of wonder. After this the track goes into a more epic section, evoking the awe and mystery exploring the vast desert planet.
NOMANâS LAND cements a cowboy-esque vibe, incorporating the familiar whistling and a twangy guitar often featured in "spaghetti Western" movies.
Mystery Man another groovy track that also incorporates elements from typical western-style soundtrack. However due to its experimental influences, it spans multiple genres with the use of a funk-like guitar rythm, a jazzy saxophone part and an harmonica.
JENEORA ROCK is another track fit for a standoff between two cowboys.
The JENEORA ROCK Resistance however, mixes this up with rapping vocals, an electronic running beat and whistling. If my memory servers me correctly this track is also played over something akin to a chase scene. Very fitting.
Visitation of A Calamity is played when we first meet the villain in the show. The unnerving and racing signature piano motif is used in Knives' other themes as well, especially the aptly named [KNIVES's Piano](#knives's piano).
Escape is another funky experimental track, with electronic influences, fast rapping and a rapid flute playing in the background. It's unfortunately a bit short đ.
I feel like the title speaks for itself on the Hide and Seek track. It has a sneaky and uneasy quality to it.
Chase's title also speaks for itself. Heavy determined percussion and rapid, high-energy guitar-picking create a sense of urgency and fast-paced movement.
Common Front is another cool track, blending rapping vocals, a somewhat funky rythm and a cinematic feel. The track certainly has a lot of instrumental layers.
Memory of Piano is a nice uneasy piano piece, ending with Knives aformentioned racing piano motif.
Fits Knives nicely. Has an unnerving feel to it, conveying a bubbling and rising rage. The beat envisions someone walking carefully.
Irritation fits Knives temperament in the scene nicely. It has an unnerving feel to it, conveying a slow-boiling rage. It embodies "you should step carefully" quite well.
Planet Zazie is a tense track featuring a racing violin, a building electronic beat, jamming guitars and an eerie flute.
Hungry ! is another seemingly bluegrass-influenced track fit for a western, but this track is also a hybrid, like many of the other tracks honestly.
Blues Harp in The Wasteland is a short track of a single blues harp. This and the Blues Harp in The Wasteland-ii are used in transtional scenes, when changing areas in the show.
Blessed Child has desert-like feel to it I think.
Shadow sounds like movie-trailer music with its use of thrilling musical elements.
Trigun Stampede is the main theme of the show, utilizing a multitude of instrumental layers. Hard to describe, so I'd just say listen to it đ€. Interestingly the Vash the Stampede track also kicks off with the same single "battle-like" horn sound playing. I guess the main character binds these two tracks together, signified by this shared tune.
I Have to Choose starts with Knives' piano motif.
Think I'll end it here. Most of the rest of the tracks are great as well. I noticed these sound quite melancholic or sad:
