Radwimps mix orchestral sounds with either acoustic or electric guitar for many of the tracks which work extremely well. Acoustic or a piano is used to give some of the tracks a lighter feel, while the electric guitar is used more for a warm and upbeat vibe.
School Road is a perfect upbeat and hopeful track, complementing the sunny and beautiful village environment on screen when it's played. Visit to Hida also has a similar upbeat feel to it, but not guitar.
Unusual Changes of Two is also a very upbeat and happy track using the electric guitar to cement a more energetic and slightly frantic vibe.
Zenzenzense - movie ver. is the movie's main theme setting an optimistic and energetic vibe.
Dream Lantern emulates the feeling of falling asleep or slowly awakening. I guess mostly the latter, since the track starts going off in terms of energy after a while. Oh and the clapping is a very tasteful addition to the composition👏👏.
Theme of Mitsuha is just a beautiful piano piece, trying to depict the characters uneasiness, while also sounding quite serene, especially due to how delicate the notes are played. Both Date and Date 2 share the same motif as this theme.
Evoking Memories sounds very dreamlike with its use of harp and "violin plucking", but also uses a snare drum similar to the ones found in dubstep or electronic music.
I think I could describe most of this movie's soundtrack using only the word beautiful, but Sparkle is definitely on the top for me. This track manages to sound both longing, magical, hopeful and serene at the same time. Very fitting for the theme of the movie and the way it plays over the climax of the plot is just perfect (If I remember correctly...).
