Lethal Lava Land use of middle-eastern instruments together with the "ghostly" tunes in the background complementing how hot, barren and desolate the area is. This makes it fit both the lava lake area and the surrounding egyptian-inspired desert. A Hat In Time's Heating Up Mafia Town also utilizes similar sound to give of the heat of the area.

Haunted House communicates a ominous wind flowing through an abandoned and desolate house. The rattling and dissonant notes toghether in the backlground with the fast light drums further cement this eerie vibe.

Cave Dungoen is legendary in my opinion. The deep resonating tones gives the area a mysterious feel emulating the echoes in a vast cavernous underground space. The subtle percussion in the background could just as well work for a deep jungle feel. Also the way the track has fast deep notes before it loops over, really brings home the feeling that there could be something lurking behind every corner.

Powerful Mario is one of this game's "Super Star" themes, giving of a light, weightless and airy feel befitting of the wing cap in this game. The other one Metallic Mario uses the same motif, but with a more industrial, heavy and metallic sound.

Bowser's has to themes in this game:

The first one is more of a heavy track with industrial sounds and drum that sounds like a hydralic stamping press. Together with the long dissonant tunes from what i figure is some sort of heavily synthesized string instrument, it gives the battle an intense vibe (and conveying how slow Bowser is :^)). The Ultimate Bowser theme uses choir-like synths to convey how climactic and grave the final battle is. I honestly never fully finished the game, so this theme is not so memorable to me 😅.
